Brick Oven + Metal Trailer = Mobile Pizza Delicousness

Just one of the benefits of doing custom metal work is the wide variety of cool projects that come our way.
Our friend Russell is the master baker behind “Russell’s Breads“.  He makes beautiful artisan loaves like these:

Besides his yummy wood-fired breads and sweets, Russell can also make a delectable pizza (I salivate just thinking about them).  Recently he approached us about building a trailer for his new “mobile pizzeria” venture.  He is in the process of  building an oven that he will cart to farmers markets and other outdoor events.  The trailer not only has to serve as a sturdy transport vehicle for the oven, but also as a makeshift bakery away from home, with a design that allows for proper storage and efficient pizza-making.

As luck would have it, Dave has experience building custom trailers back from his racing days when he built a few of his own to haul his dragsters from race to race.  So after lots of research, thinking and calculating, Dave came up with the following design:

From paper to the making, here are some work-in-progress shots:

And here is the beginning of Russell’s wood-fired oven. This is the molded foam over which a masonry substance will be laid.

Now I leave you with some  luscious images from Russell’s Breads:
