Cobalt Designworks’ New Metal Art Shop!

Cobalt Designworks is making the move from our small <400 sq ft space that has served us well in incubating the business into larger more comfortable digs that will allow us to grow.  The single story cinder block building located in uptown Vancouver, WA was built in 1960 and has in the past been home to an automotive repair shop and custom motorcycle business.

I plan to post a series of articles highlighting the progress of our renovations.  Starting from the beginning:

BEFORE:  Cobalt Designworks’ new shop/studio/showroom

This photo (above) shows the old alignment pit in the back corner where mechanics could easily get under the car for repair & maintenance.

The photo above shows the small front office area.

We pretty much plan to remove everything inside the building, fill in the alignment pit, add a new front office/showroom, create a new bathroom, update electrical, insulate and remove the front roll-up door and replace it with a glass entrance.  The front facade will look something like this:

The fun part will be adding decorative elements on and around the building to visually say “Cool Metal Work Built Here”.

Here is a peek of what the new inside will look like:

Check back for more updates as the project progresses.
