Sprouted Bumbershoot

Sprouted Bumbershoot Sprouted Bumbershoot

Sprouted Bumbershoot
(maquette - 2010)

Mild steel, powder coat

15 x 8 x 7 inches (maquette)
15 x 8 x 7 feet (at full size)

This colorful umbrella tree lives in the imaginations of the artists, who reside in the soggy Pacific Northwest. Incessant rains fuel this tree’s growth while the parasol flowers provide refuge from the area’s frequent downpours. While the Sprouted Bumbershoot is native to the Northwest, it is seen as a curious exotic when grown in sunny San Diego.

Note: This design was chosen for the Port of San Diego's Urban Tree 7 exhibtion. 30 artists will each turn a 12 foot pole into a sculptural tree that will adorn San Diego's waterfront from Oct 2010 thru Oct 2011.

Rise

Rise - Closeup Rise Rise - Moses Lake's Sculpture without Walls exhibit

Rise (2009)

Stainless steel, powder coat
104 x 57 x 24 inches

Strong Body. Open Mind. Full Spirit.

This winged woman with her angelic presence is floating upwards, rising to meet the potential that lies within. While her open heart exposes her vulnerability and the chink on her lower body hints at imperfection, these marks of humanness provide a roadmap to a life of complete fulfillment. The color red signifies passion and flow of blood, for while she is angelic in presence, she is very human in nature.

Rise is currently on display in Woodinville, WA.

Available - $18,000

A childlike fascination with bright colors and puzzle pieces resurfaces as we play with vivid yet simple shapes; piecing them together to create flowing lines and a sensuous, more grown-up form.

This sculpture is currently part of the Arts Downtown Outdoor Gallery in Puyallup, WA for 2009 - 2011.
